How Do I Connect?
At Berean we offer several of ways that you can connect. From our after school BASH program to Kingdom Kids, Sunday Connect to several weekly Bible Studies, there is a place for you. We feel that every Christian should find ways to grow closer to God, each other and reach the world through service, ministry, study and Sunday services. Below is a list of some of the opportunities, but we hope that if you don't see a place for you that you will contact us with your ministry idea. After all it's about connecting.
New to Berean
If you are looking for a church home or want to know more about a relationship with God, Berean is a great place to start your journey. Berean is a loving church located at the corner of 16th Street and Illinois Avenue in Murphysboro and we always welcome visitors and new members.
You can attend our regular services or other opportunities to connect listed below. Sunday Connect starts at 9:00 am and morning worship begins at 10:00 am. Feel free to dress comfortably as you will see people in business casual to blue jeans. Our praise and worship time is contemporary and we offer open communion. Opportunities to Connect
high school youth group
Every Wednesday after school the high school youth meet at Berean. They study God's word and just hang out have a meal and a good time. They also plan trips and other events. To get the date and time of their next meeting contact Scott Ward or the church office.
Sunday Connect is our Adult Bible study available every Sunday morning at 9:00. This adult class is where you will learn Christian principles and how they apply to our busy lives today andmeet others that share their experiences and daily walk. Nursery is available. building & grounds
This ministry team is crucial to the function of the physical aspects of the church property. However, that is just the tip of the iceberg. This group of dedicated Christians labor for His kingdom. This ministry also gives participants a chance to connect with each other. Craig Whistle is the contact person.
fellowship ministry team
The fellowship ministry team is an integral part of church and christian life at Berean. Meeting together is not just fun, but the way we get to know each other and grow closer as brothers and sisters in Christ. Contact Stacy Humphrey to be a part of this ministry team.
Outreach Ministry Team
A group of members finding ways to show God's love to the Murphysboro community. They sponsor the annual school supply give-a-way and other events.
This is just the beginning of the opportunities available. We feel it is very important for everyone to find their talent and to apply it to build up the body of believers. If you do not see exactly where you fit contact the church office for ministry ideas. We have lots of possible ways to serve.
BFF - Berean Fun Fellowship
Berean Fun Fellowship is new in 2019! It is a Wednesday evening time of fellowship for our grade school through middle school age groups. Call the church office for times and dates! Come ring the bell!
39 and holding
This group of mature Christians meet monthly, usually on Saturday evening, to have a time of fellowship. They make arrangements to travel together to any number of local restaurants and break bread. To sign up for the next adventure contact Pat Sullivan directly orthrough the church office.
Sunday mornings are an adventure of fun and learning about God, and Kingdom Kids is where the adventure begins. Each Sunday morning, starting at 9:00, children of all ages are welcomed to be a part of the excitement. Contact Emily Ward for more information.
missions ministry team
At Berean we support local, regional , national and international missions and missionaries. If you would like to be a part of the team that prayerfully works to further God's kingdom through missions contact Dan Mann. Just a few that we support include: Margaret Russell Scholarship, Campus Ministry, Prison Evangelism, Illini Christian Ministries, Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp, Pregnancy Matters, Murphysboro Food Pantry, New Missions to Kenya, Murphysboro Ministerial Alliance, Benevolence Fund (Church Members) and Miscellaneous Fund (non-members)
Margaret russell scholarship
This scholarship is to help young Christians with the financial burden of college studies at Christ based institutions of higher learning. For info contact Susanne Ward.
