Berean to Connect with Murphysboro at Annual Night Out

Murphysboro / August 29, 2014 - Berean Christian Church will be participating in the Annual Murphysboro Community Night Out that will take place on October 7th at Longfellow Park starting at 5:00pm.

The event is designed to promote partnerships and relationships between the various city departments and the community. The focus is on crime, drug and violence prevention as well as safety and neighborhood unity.

Berean will be connecting with the community at this event by providing a fun game for the kids and answering questions from parents about their BASH (Berean After School Haven) program and other outreach efforts. Troy Humphrey minister at Berean loves the opportunity to meet with community members. “This is a great event and we are pleased to show people that Berean is more than a Sunday morning church and we are concerned about their needs. We want to let them know that we are there for them through BASH and in many other ways.”

BASH is one of Murphysboro’s best known afterschool programs with over 25 children participating every school year. They provide Wednesday afternoon transportation to Berean, homework help, snacks, play time and diner all through donations of time and monetary resources. It is open to children kindergarten through fifth grade. The slots fill up quickly each year. Also on Wednesday nights through the school year Berean offers middle school and high school connect programs. Please contact the church office for more information.

Berean is just one of the participants at this year’s Night Out event. There will be free food, and activities sponsored by the city, local businesses, civic organizations as well as churches. For more information about Berean visit www.bereanconnect.com or email them at info@bereanconnect.com.
